7 lessons I learned from the Al Chemist


Lesson #1:- Humans are tested with calamities and challenges to build a stronger intellectual ground where they can protect their lives and become able to create a better world for future generations. 

  • Those who risked their lives and followed their dreams, they have got the victory. And those who did not risk, and played it safe,  merely stopped where they needed to start.


Lesson #2:- Santiago in the search of his legend (true inner self) encountered challenges and a few close calls to death. In the search for treasure, he fearlessly bids on his life by selling his sheep to an old King joins a crystal shop in an unknown part of Africa, and finally embarks on the longest journey towards the Pyramids of Egypt. 

  • His passion to find the unknown treasure based on his audacious belief in omens led him to overpower all the negative forces that could have stopped him from achieving his legend.

Lesson #3:- When a person puts his belief in Almighty and works towards the desired goals, it is said, the entire Universe conspires in helping that person to achieve it. Santiago’s struggle altogether manifests a crystal clear frame before one’s eyes, that to achieve success, one needs to have clear set targets. 

“To realize one’s legend is a person’s only real obligation.”

Lesson #4:- The Universe consists of hydrogen, carbon, and some related substances required for the bonding material. But the real force that culminates into a smoother flow of affairs in this Universe is true love. Love is the language of the Universe. 

  • It has the capacity to transform the world into heaven or boil it down to hell. There’s no substitute for Love, it’s eternal and sacred. It is the key to unlocking treasures. Love is a ride that never lets his passenger fall down to the ground from the top.


Lesson #5:- Without action, Santiago might not have met his love at the Oasis and collaborated with Al Chemist. He took the opportunity as an omen from god. The journey became his companion in both troubled nights and stormy dawns. It was his courage that helped him walk the paths he had never seen before.

“Every opportunity ignored becomes a curse.”


Lesson #6:- At the beginning of the journey, everything seems normal. People often miscalculate the implications of decisions they undertake in their daily lives. In the busy working life, they forget the purpose of why this all started? Always remind yourself about the journey and the reason why this action was necessary to take in the first place.

“The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon.”


Lesson #7:- It was not the real aim of Santiago to know where his treasure lay at the very beginning of the journey. Instead, he focused on his journey. Travel taught him lessons about the world and the hidden secrets in a realistic way that he would not have learned while reading books and listening to others' mouths talk.
