When we think about success, we
think about money, Lamborghini, a mansion with an indoor swimming pool, popularity,
and recognition, just to name a few. Every human dream and wants to achieve
something meaningful in his life. No one wants to be left behind. But unfortunately,
many don’t make it to their dream mansion ever.
Remember, you have the same 24 hours as Elon Musk.
Failure is detrimental when it can’t be your teacher. To avoid chances of getting failed, I present to you 7 proven tips that will help you get started with a productive life:
Start with simpleMorning is the best time to begin
your work. It is also the time when you either feel motivated or not. Take a
simple task that is easier to finish. Psychology says, when you have
accomplished your first target as small as making the bed, you will experience your
remaining day as most productive.
You can also have other small
tasks as you start your day:
- Read a single page from your routine book.
- Clean your table and chair before you sit on it.
- Read a single important article from any e-newspaper.
Right after you finished your
first job, start working on your main target. Don’t waste your energy on other
less important things. Once you accomplished your main target, the whole day
will become joyful.
Focus on the process, not the outcome
The process is exhausting. It
consumes the most energy and time. Let’s not think about the end result,
instead focus on the process. The process is linked to the practice. Practice
is an action. Action creates habit. The habit of doing practice gets you closer
to achieving your set targets proactively. It also minimizes the chances to fall
prey to procrastination or feeling lethargic.
“The practice will open the door to the change you seek to make.” – Seth Godin
Start loving your real work
No one is born creative. It’s when we learn, we understand the meaning of what we like. So, don’t waste your time thinking there’s anything you can’t do. If you want to accomplish something, take it seriously. Love the work you want to achieve. If an opportunity comes in, avail it without thinking, it might not be your cup of tea.
In his book The Practice ‘Shipping
Creative Work,’ Seth Godin writes
- “Do what you love” is for amateurs.
- “Love what you do” is the mantra for professionals.
Don’t lay down, get back to work
It’s hard to begin. But it’s not that hard to begin. Always value your time in cash. If your 10 minutes is worth $1, it means your 1 hour is worth $6. One day, 24 hours’ worth about $144. When you make your mind to evaluating your day in cash, you can easily calculate how much you have earned and how much you lost in a single day.
Write down your thoughts
The human mind is designed to make
new ideas and not to hold them inside. If you can’t write them down, you are most
probably going to lose those ideas. Make it your habit, write down every idea
you get into your head.

Done!
Always get inspiration from the feeling of getting things done. When you finish your work, it gives you a reason to feel proud. The joy of finishing your job on time is a little form of reward you get very often. Get inspired by the 'done’ button. Always end your day feeling you have done your job.
