What failures can teach us?

Waqar Ahmed | The Productivity Science

Let’s be clear, the word failure has various connotations, mostly sort of horror. Everyone has faced failure regardless of the intensity of the failure that happened to any person. It is a real phenomenon. Despite all the beliefs, failure is not a problem because it provides us the opportunity to learn and improvise. However, there are some moments when we overthink the failure, and end up becoming the victim of depression. It is not a good thing to happen to any person on this planet.

Thomas Edison tried 999 different techniques to create a light-bulb and failed. It was after 999 trials that he got real success in the 1000th trial. These 999 techniques were not a failure; these were the lessons to not quit and look for something new, something greater. After success at the 1000th time, Edison learned that 999 techniques were not useful and nobody should apply those ever. The world might not have discovered the light that earlier in time if Edison had thought about giving up after 999 trials. His perseverance made the magic happen and today everyone around the world is enjoying bright and colorful nights every single day. Thank goodness, what world would have been without Edison's discovery?

So, what do failures have for us, and what sort of mindset do we need to have when failure hits us?

There are a few things that can help such as:

  1. Failure is just a bump in the road.
  2. There is no such thing called “Dead End” at the moment when failure hits us.
  3. Failure is a redirection in the strategy.
  4. Failure is a lesson that previous technique was not relevant. Let’s try something new.
  5. Failure is about effort. It tests our stamina.
  6. Failure is a reflection of a positive attitude. When failure hits us, it simply means we need to wait a little bit more. Our turn will come really soon.
  7. Failure is not about giving up. In contrast, it’s about initiating a real war with the brain.
  8. Failure has a positive side as it makes us practice patiently, build the mantle and come back stronger.
  9. Failure is a part of life. Nothing is wrong with being a failure at a certain point in life. Take some time and reflect inside and find the correct pattern to make a breakthrough.
  10. Humanity is bigger than any failure. Such silly things don’t define us. So, embrace what’s missing and turn it into a magical opportunity.

Failure is not a full stop. It's a pause! You can resume whenever you want. - Waqar Ahmed

What is a Wasteman Loop & How to avoid it?

Waqar Ahmed | The Productivity Science What is a wasteman Loop? For the past few days, I have been doing a lot of social media surfacing without realizing the effects of it on my productive life. I was so indulged in social media scrolling, liking, and sharing weird cat posts that I never realized I was wasting more than 4 hours per day of my precious life. Being into some business where there is no return value or profit is what I call a wasteman loop. Every once in a while I return to this wasteman life and I have to push myself again to keep focused on the main objectives in life. This on and off productivity is what I call the loop. I’m constantly worried about two things to happen in my life, first, when I start wasting my time on social media or any other stuff that adds zero value to my life, second, the continuous fight with consistency to not return to wasteman life and still end up becoming the wasteman I loathe. How does it affect your productivity? Being a wasteman has...

Become Productive by managing your Focus

Waqar Ahmed | The Productivity Science What it’s about? Human has a limited scope of focus. It can only do one thing at a time effectively. The more the focus is distributed on things, the less effective would be the productive results. Neuro-scientifically, it is not suggested for any human to do multi-tasking like browsing more than one topic on Internet as it would only be proven fatal to human attention, and the results won’t be satisfactory. Nothing better is achieved in distributing focus onto so many things at a single time. Why manage your focus? Focus is what makes our learning effective. When we start prioritizing time management, we often ignore the fact that if time is not well spent by following the proper standard operational procedures, the whole effort would be subsumed as zero. Time management must be coordinated with the management of focus. When we take only one target at a time and give our whole attention to it, the ultimate breakthrough takes place. Whenever ...

Focus out will bring zero Outcome

Waqar Ahmed | The Productivity Science To achieve big goals in life, one needs to have proper set goals to work on. It is important to highlight the urgent set targets on the wish-list to convince your cognitive thought process about the important goal that needs your urgent attention. Of course, the other stuff will also need your time and energy, but the urgent work that needs to be done this evening requires the time you’re having right now. If you can’t sacrifice your urgent time for urgent work, it would be really hard to get things done that have an impact on your life. Always create a focused strategy for important tasks. Don’t rush towards unnecessary clutter. It can wait, but the urgent assignment's due time won’t. So you need to be strategic and figurative all the time. When you are good at the management of micro-level challenges, your chances to succeed in the long run become too certain. It is also a real-life’s tragedy that everything we learn outside our real job s...
